Bishop Arts Theatre Center (BATC) is a diverse, community-driven resource with an engaging story to tell. In 2020, Three Box selected BATC as our agency’s inaugural Impact Client and provided pro-bono strategic communications support in a year that presented unique challenges to arts and entertainment institutions throughout the world.

Three Box launched our relationship with BATC in March 2020, right as COVID-19 was entering and rapidly spreading throughout the United States. Immediately, Three Box and BATC collaborated on what this meant for the theatre’s physical space and how the brand should communicate to its audiences during a time of widespread fear and uncertainty.

Throughout the year-long program, Three Box coached BATC on marketing and communications best practices, including donor outreach, digital engagement, brand identity, crisis preparation, media relations, thought leadership and more, all through the lens of COVID-19’s impact on the local community. Our teams met regularly to find solutions to the theatre’s unique challenges, brainstorm creative ideas and plan for the future.

From the start, BATC implemented the tools, resources and coaching from Three Box into the brand’s marketing communications activities. BATC not only survived one of the hardest years for the entertainment industry to date, but the organization creatively pivoted and uncovered new ways to serve its audiences.
